About this project

Building the connective tissue for the Sikh community in North America

Our information is scattered, unverified, and controlled by third-party tech giants. We are creating a centralized, high-utility gateway that handles everything from pilgrimage logistics to daily Diwan schedules - making our heritage accessible to the modern world.

Mission statement

"To architect a sovereign, unified digital infrastructure that maps the spiritual and social geography of Sikhism across the USA and Canada. This platform serves as the definitive Source of Truth, ensuring that every Sikh - whether a local resident, a cross-continental traveler, or a seeker - has verified, real-time access to the Guru's door and the community's resources."

The four pillars of authority

01

Geographic Sovereignty

The Map

We are reclaiming Sikh community data from generic platforms that often show incorrect hours, wrong phone numbers, and closed locations. This directory is the primary verifier of 632+ Gurdwaras across two nations.

  • Every listing is verified by its Gurdwara committee, not scraped by algorithms.
  • Verified data is pushed outward to Google, Apple Maps, and Bing - we are the source, they are the mirrors.
  • NAP (Name, Address, Phone) governance with quarterly audits and community-driven corrections.
  • Golden record system: one canonical source of truth per Gurdwara, maintained by the Sangat.

For committees & donors

"I am building the connective tissue for the Sikh community in North America. Currently, our information is scattered, unverified, and controlled by third-party tech giants. Why this matters

The problem with Google

Google Maps lists incorrect hours for roughly 30% of Gurdwaras. Many show as permanently closed, have wrong phone numbers, or lack operational details. When a Sikh family searches for langar timings, they get nothing - or worse, wrong information.

Scattered across WhatsApp

Community information lives in WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, and word of mouth. A Sikh relocating to a new city has no centralized way to find Sangat, youth programs, or a Gurdwara offering Amrit Sanchar.

No cultural context

Generic platforms can list locations, but not Sikh-specific ontology. They do not tell you which Gurdwara has 24/7 langar, specific maryada practices, or kids Gatka training. This platform is designed to carry that context.

How we build trust

Every piece of data goes through a verification pipeline. We never publish unverified information.

01

Automated discovery

Google Maps API, public records, and social discovery to build the initial dataset.

02

Phone verification

Direct call to verify hours, langar schedule, programs, and contact details.

03

Committee claiming

Gurdwara committees claim their listing, verify identity, and take ownership.

04

Ongoing governance

Quarterly audits, community corrections, and annual re-verification.
