About Guru Ram Das Ashram
Guru Ram Das Ashram, located at 1620 Preuss Road in Los Angeles, California, serves as a spiritual center for the Sikh community. While specific historical details are not provided, the Ashram has a tradition of holding weekly Akhand Paths for over 35 years, fostering a deep connection to the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. The Ashram offers a range of spiritual services, including daily morning Kirtan, Sunday Kirtan programs with Sukhmani Sahib Path, and virtual Akhand Paths and Sahaj Paaths. These services are often available via livestream on platforms like Zoom and Facebook, making them accessible to a wider audience. The Ashram also hosts Aquarian Sadhana sessions. It provides a haven for peace and upliftment, and actively seeks donations and participation in seva (volunteer service) to sustain its mission. Seva opportunities include sponsoring Langar (community kitchen meals), assisting with Ishnaan Seva (cleaning), and flower arrangements. The Ashram also coordinates large community events, most notably the annual Vaisakhi celebration in Downtown Los Angeles, which commemorates the establishment of the Khalsa Panth and includes a Kirtan program, speeches, a bazaar, children's activities, and a Nagar Kirtan (parade). Unique features include virtual Akhand Paths and the ability to sponsor these continuous readings for special occasions.

Vaisakhi 2026 Celebration
The Southern California Sikh Community celebrated Vaisakhi 2026 on April 5th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event commemorates the day in 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh bestowed and blessed Sikhs with the unique form, appearance and discipline associated with the Sikh way of life. It also coincides with the first Spring Harvest and the Sikh New Year. The all-day event starts at 4 a.m. at Guru Ram Das Ashram with Asa di Var (devotional morning songs). At 7 a.m., the Grand Motorcade Procession begins to escort the Siri Guru Granth Sahib to the Convention Center. Gatka performers, conches, and drums accompany the procession. The Kirtan program features renowned Ragi Kirtan jathas from around the world and local groups. Attendees can listen to speeches from interfaith and political leaders, enjoy Langar (vegetarian food), explore the Baisakhi Bazaar, and participate in children's activities. A colorful Nagar Kirtan (parade) through downtown Los Angeles concludes the day's events.
