About Gurudwara Sahib Sikh Temple | West Sacramento

The Sikh Temple of Sacramento, commonly known as Gurdwara, serves as a central place of worship for the Sikh population in the Greater Sacramento area. Established in 1983 after the purchase and remodeling of a former church building on a two-acre site, the Gurdwara has undergone significant expansion to accommodate its growing congregation. Key developments include the construction of the Langar Hall and additional rooms in 1985-86, followed by the acquisition of adjacent land in 1991 for a larger prayer hall, which was completed in 1997. A new, expansive Langar Hall was inaugurated in 2010. The Gurdwara offers a spiritual sanctuary and actively supports its community. While specific services beyond regular worship are not detailed, the presence of a Langar Hall indicates a commitment to community meals. The structure itself features a significant prayer hall adorned with numerous traditional domes, reflecting its architectural identity. The Gurdwara stands as a testament to the community's growth and dedication to its faith and cultural heritage.

A church building, located on a two-acre site, was purchased in June 1983, and was remodeled to accommodate the needs of the Sikh community. The Sikh Temple of Sacramento was inaugurated on July 31, 1983. The Langar Hall (community kitchen) and the second story rooms were constructed during 1985-86.
