Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis is a vibrant center for worship, reflection, and community gathering, welcoming individuals of all faiths, races, and ethnicities seven days a week. Originating in the late 1960s, the Gurdwara building was constructed in 1999, and a significant expansion is currently underway, slated for completion in April 2026, to accommodate the growing Sikh community in Indiana. This non-profit organization operates with an elected executive committee and a board of trustees, supported by dedicated volunteers and religious sewaks. The Gurdwara offers regular services, including Waheguru Simran on Saturdays and morning and evening Banis daily. Sundays feature Sukhmani Sahib, Katha, and Kirtan. Visitors are warmly welcomed and provided with guidelines for respectful participation, including attire, head coverings, and the prohibition of intoxicants. Guided tours are available by appointment. Beyond worship, Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis plays a crucial role in the community, supporting local events, humanitarian projects, and interfaith initiatives. They actively participate in various festivals and school programs, fostering understanding and cooperation. The organization also runs a Punjabi school every Sunday, offering instruction in the Punjabi language, Gurbani, Sikh history, faith, and values. A unique feature of the Gurdwara is its commitment to the principle of Langar, a free community kitchen where all are welcome to share a meal, symbolizing equality and shattering caste barriers. The current expansion project aims to further enhance their capacity to serve the community and enrich Indiana's spiritual landscape.
