About Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar

Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar, located at 226 Mystic Avenue in Medford, MA, is a prominent spiritual center serving the Sikh community of the Greater Boston area and surrounding states. Established in September 1997, it arose from a pressing need for a dedicated place of worship and communal service for Sikhs in Somerville, Cambridge, Malden, Medford, and Boston. The Gurdwara's history is intertwined with the growth of the Sikh community in these regions, now drawing attendees from as far as North Andover and Woburn. Originally operating from rented premises, the Sangat purchased a building in May 2003, converting it into the current Gurdwara which includes two prayer halls, a library, living quarters for the Granthi, a conference room, an office, a langar hall, and a commercial kitchen. The Gurdwara offers a rich array of services, including daily Nitnem, Sunday Diwans with Kirtan and Gurbani lectures, Langar meals, and weekly Kirtan, Gurbani recital, and Punjabi classes. The management, headed by Sardar Jaspal Singh Pabla as President, is dedicated to the maximum utilization of the premises for educating and training children and youth, fostering spiritual development and community engagement.
