About The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina
The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina (SGNC) is a community hub that traces its origins to 1983. Founded by Sikh families seeking a spiritual gathering place, SGNC officially inaugurated its facilities in 1986. The Gurudwara serves as a "threshold to the divine," fostering Sangat (gathering) for learning Sikh values and Pangat (community kitchen) for practicing them. SGNC offers a variety of services, including Gurbani Kirtan (devotional singing), a Gurmat School for children to learn Sikh scriptures and values, and the Guru Ka Langar, a free communal meal prepared by volunteers. Unique features include a Sikh Library with extensive resources for faith research, offering both on-site reading and book borrowing. The Gurudwara also actively engages in Public Relations, sharing Sikh values with local government agencies, schools, universities, and church groups to build a more peaceful community. The organization is dedicated to providing facilities for the learning and practice of the Sikh faith and sharing information about Sikh people. They offer marriage ceremonies (Anand Karaj), death ceremonies (Antim Ardas), and various private Kirtan and Paath services. SGNC is currently undergoing an expansion project to better serve future generations.

History
The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina (SGNC), as an organization, originated in 1983. A group of Sikh families in North Carolina realized the need to establish a Gurudwara in our state where we could establish Sangat and Pangat. Gurudwara is a threshold to the divine. Sangat is where everyone gathers to learn the values of Guru, and Pangat is where we practice those values. At The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina, we strive to learn our Sikh Faith as taught by Guru Nanak Ji. The Gurudwara facilities were inaugurated in 1986, and we are in an expansion project to serve the needs of the next generation of Sikhs. We learn and sing the glory of God through the Bani (words) of Guru, and we share our blessings with everyone equally. Our mission is to provide the facilities in the state of North Carolina for the learning and the practice of Sikh Faith, and to share information about the Sikh people with the people of North Carolina so that we can be informed residents of the Tar Heel state, and the United States of America.
