About Guru Nanak Learning Centre
Guru Nanak Foundation for Humanity, operating as Sikhs for Humanity, was founded in 2009 as a registered charity in Canada. Inspired by the Sikh teachings of *seva* (selfless service) and *langar* (free communal meals), their mission is to serve those in need. The institution of *langar*, as exalted by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, is central to their work, providing free meals to all members of society, irrespective of background, promoting equality and diminishing societal divisions. Sikhs for Humanity offers a range of services including a Food Bank providing grocery hampers every Sunday, and formerly operated a "Seva Food Truck" program that delivered meals to students in Edmonton's inner city and served the homeless. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they expanded their efforts to support over 300 families weekly with grocery hampers. Beyond material support, they are dedicated to disseminating the universal teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib through the translation and distribution of sacred texts like Jup Bani and Sukhmani Sahib in various languages. They also print and distribute educational resources on Sikhism. The organization plays a significant role in community building, believing that compassion and community are solutions to poverty. They offer opportunities for donations and volunteering, emphasizing transparency in their operations. Unique features include their commitment to providing spiritual nourishment alongside physical sustenance through educational initiatives and the availability of religious scriptures in multiple languages.

History
Founded in 2009, Sikhs for Humanity is a registered charity in Canada. Their mission is to take the Sikh teachings of seva (selfless service) and langar (free communal meals served to all without discrimination) to those who need it most. They were inspired by Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings and the concept of 'sacha sauda' (True investment). Gurudwaras across the globe provide free meals to all members of society, regardless of their background. They aim to uplift and empower disenfranchised and disadvantaged individuals. The organization began with the idea of a 'Seva Food Truck' in Edmonton's inner city, serving students at low-income schools. This evolved into serving the homeless in downtown Edmonton, preparing langar for around 400 people every Saturday. Following COVID-19, they launched a grocery hamper program serving over 300 families weekly in Sherwood Park, which has now become a permanent food bank located at 4954 Roper Road, Edmonton. They also established the Guru Nanak Learning Centre to teach essential life values and spread spiritual teachings.
Unique Features
The organization focuses on spreading the universal teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji through seva and langar. They have translated Guru Granth Sahib Bani into various languages to spread the message of oneness. They also provide educational resources and have published pamphlets and book sets on Sikh philosophy.
