History
In 1974, the Sikh community of Rochester began meeting once a month at various private homes for worship. The Gurdwara of Rochester was registered as a non profit organization in 1976. As the community expanded, members started searching for a permanent site for the gurdwara and located their current site in the Rochester suburb of Penfield. The building was built in December 1986 and the community started holding services every Sunday.
