About Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Centre Brampton

Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Centre Brampton operates two Gurdwaras in Brampton, Ontario, serving as a spiritual and community hub for the Sikh faith. Founded in 1995 with the opening of the Gurdwara at 99 Glidden Road, it has since expanded with a second location at 32 Regan Road, opened in 2008 to accommodate the growing Sangat. A Gurdwara, meaning "Guru's Door," is a place of worship where Sikhs gather to pray before the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy scripture. The center offers a range of services and programs. Daily services are held at both locations, featuring prayers, Kirtan, and Katha. Beyond religious services, the Gurdwara provides educational opportunities such as Gurmat and Punjabi classes, holiday Gurmat Camps, and extracurricular activities including Karate, Wrestling, and Gatka. Unique initiatives include Niwaas Long-Term Care, a specialized facility for the Sikh-Punjabi community, and Sikheya Institute, which empowers young people with job market skills. The Sant Teja Singh Bookstore at Gurdwara Sikh Sangat offers a wide selection of Sikh literature, artwork, and essentials. The Gurdwara embodies the core Sikh values of Naam Japo (focus on God), Kirat Karni (honest living), and Vand Chakna (sharing with others), actively promoting selfless service (Seva) and community well-being. It strives to be a safe and empowering place for worship, education, and community outreach, strengthening the Sangat and spreading Sikh teachings.
