Guru Nanak Dwara, meaning "Gate to Guru Nanak," was established in 1970 as the first Gurdwara in Arizona, serving as a vibrant spiritual campus in historic Phoenix. Founded as an Ashram dedicated to Sikhism and Kundalini Yoga, it offered a drug and alcohol-free environment emphasizing spiritual discipline and selfless service. The Gurdwara was officially established in 1972 with guidance on Sikh traditions and ceremonies. Services include daily practices such as Bana (Sikh Uniform), Bani (Scriptures Recited Daily), Simran (Continuous Meditation), Seva (Selfless Service), Gatka (Sikh Martial Art), and Yoga. Weekly services are held on Sundays and Fridays, featuring Kirtan, scriptural recitations, children's programs, Ardas, Hukam, Prasad, and the community meal, Guru ka Langar. Guru Nanak Dwara plays a crucial community role, fostering a sense of refuge and peace. It encourages involvement through "Start Serving," inviting individuals to contribute to its daily operations through Seva. The Gurdwara's unique blend of devotional Sadh Sangat, sacred scriptures, healthy living, and Kundalini Yoga creates a welcoming environment for spiritual growth and community connection. The site is located at 2302 N 9th St, Phoenix, AZ 85006.
