Albuquerque Sikh Gurudwara, established in May 2005, serves as a spiritual and community hub for Sikhs in the Albuquerque area. The Gurudwara's history traces back to October 2004 with the signing of a letter of intent by 15 members of the local sangat. It was legally incorporated as a non-profit organization in December 2004, and the building at 1905 Alvarado NE was purchased in April 2005, with the first service held shortly after on May 8, 2005. The Gurudwara offers regular Sunday morning programs featuring Japji Sahib Path, Sukhmani Sahib Path, Shabad Kirtan, and Anand Sahib. A significant aspect of these gatherings is the Guru Ka Langar, a community kitchen serving free meals. While Wednesday evening programs are temporarily cancelled, the Gurudwara aims to increase its services as it collects funds for expansion and a larger property. Its community role is further evidenced by events like picnics and the historic first wedding held in 2007. Unique features include its federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, which was approved in October 2005, and the completion of a Langar Hall expansion in December 2005, followed by a kitchen expansion and renovation in April 2009.
