History

Gurdwara Sahib Clovis’ mission is to commit to selfless Seva (service) of humanity as a whole and ensure propagation, practice, and advancement of Sikhism based upon the teachings of the ten Guru’s and Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. By sticking to the basics of Sikhi, we will follow what our Sikhi founders intended for: everyone having equal rights irrespective of caste, creed, color, race, sex, or religion. Gurdwara Sahib Clovis is welcoming to all including any sects of Sikhism and is a non-political, non-profit, religious-minded organization. Our goal is to provide a haven in which the community can gather for wholesome social interactions to ultimately promote the Sikh religion. In all aspects of Sikhism including: teaching, language, music, and the philosophies of The Sikh Gurus. To preserve and promote the Sikh religion, history, philosophy, and spirit of Sikhism by promoting the way of life as prescribed in the Sikh Rahit Maryada (Code of Conduct). To place the Sikh ideals of universal equality of mankind in a contemporary world perspective to promote universal peace and harmony. To construct and operate a Gurdwara (place of worship for Sikhs, open to all) in accordance with the Sikh Rahat Maryada. In addition to providing facilities for holding regular religious services and celebrating Sikh religious functions, the Gurdwara premises will provide space for a Sunday School and Library to encourage the Sikh youth to develop an appreciation for Sikh values, history, traditions and literature.
